Basketball Recap: Oakfield-Alabama Victorious

Oakfield-Alabama posted their closest victory since December 29, 2023 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted against the Fighting Irish since January 13, 2016.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sofia Falleti posted 18 points and five rebounds. Falleti is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Lucia Fiorentino was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

The win got Oakfield-Alabama back to even at 2-2. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Oakfield-Alabama will challenge Keshequa at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Keshequa will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Oakfield-Alabama surely won't give up without a fight. As for Notre Dame, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 69-63 win against Lyons on the 3rd.
