Baseball Recap: South Dade Finds Home Field Redemption Against Southridge

There's no place like home for South Dade, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Southridge Spartans on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since March 12th.

Jonel Lluveras was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of South Dade's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sebastian De Valle, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

South Dade has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Southridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Dade will take on Belen Jesuit at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southridge, they will square off against Miami Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
