Football Game Preview: Calhoun Academy Cavaliers vs. Hilton Head Prep Dolphins

The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. Calhoun Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Friday, Calhoun Academy blew past Clarendon Hall, posting a 49-12 victory. Considering the Cavaliers have won eight matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Colt Layton, who rushed for 134 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 115 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 63 yards.

Layton was just one part of a punishing run game: Calhoun Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 221 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Hilton Head Prep came up short against Hilton Head Christian Academy on Friday and fell 33-21. The defeat continues a trend for the Dolphins in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hilton Head Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Calhoun Academy, their record now sits at 9-1.

Calhoun Academy strolled past Hilton Head Prep in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 42-27. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Dolphins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
