Basketball Preview: Universal Academy vs. R.W. Goines Stem Academy
Universal Academy are on the road again on Tuesday and plays R.W. Goines Stem Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Universal Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the are ranked 109th).
Last Friday, Universal Academy had to suffer through a rough 65-36 loss at the hands of the Bears. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Universal Academy has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Universal Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cyrus Shaw, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamran Reese, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, R.W. Goines Stem Academy came up short against the Cougar on Saturday and fell 64-52. R.W. Goines Stem Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Universal Academy dropped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for R.W. Goines Stem Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season.
Universal Academy came up short against the when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 50-42. Can Universal Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
