Softball Recap: Deer Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ygnacio Valley last Tuesday, Deer Valley came back down to earth. The Deer Valley Wolverines came up short against the Washington Huskies on Thursday, falling 16-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 19-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Braelyn Valdez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. Valdez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Rosalyn Zermeno was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Deer Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Washington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer Valley is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Irvington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washington, they will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Eden at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
