Softball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-18 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Independence Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in March.

As for Independence, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Centennial since March 24, 2022.

For Independence's part, Piper Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Taylor Schmidt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Centennial is set to square off against their familiar foe Ravenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Independence will take on rival Page at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
