Basketball Recap: DeKalb Takes a Loss

DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Garrett Railroaders at home by a 68-54 margin. The Barons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Railroaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Garrett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah King led the charge by going 7-for-17 on his way to 25 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, King is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Parker Reed, who went 6-for-8 en route to 18 points and five rebounds.

DeKalb's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Garrett, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeKalb will host Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully DeKalb likes a good challenge. As for Garrett, they will look to defend their home court on February 28th against West Noble at 7:30 p.m.
