Softball Recap: Stanley Panthers vs. Holden Rockets
With a playoff game on the line, Stanley rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Holden Rockets 10-3. Stanley might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.
Paige Campbell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Campbell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Campbell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Palmer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madeline Castillo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Stanley's win bumped their record up to 20-13. As for Holden, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.
Stanley will head out on the road to challenge Choudrant at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Choudrant is coming into the match with five straight victories at home, so Stanley will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Holden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
