Basketball Game Preview: Dekaney Wildcats vs. Westfield Mustangs

Dekaney is 1-9 against Westfield since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dekaney Wildcats will take on the Westfield Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Dekaney came up short against Aldine and fell 67-60. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Westfield didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Spring on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 56-51 win.

Westfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Dekaney, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

Dekaney suffered a grim 68-42 defeat to Westfield in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dekaney was down 38-13.
