Basketball Recap: Provo Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lucas Castagnetto and Makai Allen

Provo lost against Payson back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Provo Bulldogs took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Payson Lions.

Provo's loss came despite strong showings from Makai Allen and Lucas Castagnetto. Allen went 10 of 18 en route to 25 points and four steals, while Castagnetto almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Allen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Payson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Legend Reynoso led the charge by going 6 for 7 on his way to 16 points. The match was Reynoso's third in a row with at least ten points. Kade Jenson was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

Provo's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Payson, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Provo has already played their next contest, an 84-66 win against Uintah on the 31st. As for Payson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-52 victory against Timpanogos on the 31st.
