Basketball Recap: Point Arena Extends Winning Streak to 11

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Point Arena walked away with it. They came out on top against the Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs by a score of 62-53 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on 11 straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Point Arena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fernando Lopez, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least a third of Point Arena's points. Another player making a difference was Mateo VanCleave, who posted 19 points.

Point Arena was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Point Arena's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Summerfield Waldorf, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Coming up, Point Arena will square off against St. Vincent de Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Point Arena's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matches. Summerfield Waldorf does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
