Softball Recap: Brooke Bruins vs. Edison Wildcats

Sadly, Brooke is still looking for their first win of the season after seven matches. They fell victim to a tough 9-3 defeat at the hands of the Edison Wildcats on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brooke of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

Alexa Foresha put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Foresha has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Foresha was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Maggie Diserio was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emilee McKinney, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Like Brooke, Edison also got a great game from a two-way player: Ali Shrieve. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Shrieve was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Sophia Henderson was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Brooke's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Edison, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Brooke will head out on the road to square off against Conotton Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edison, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against East Liverpool at 5:00 p.m.
