It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Godley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Kennedale 4-3. The game was the first time Godley has beaten Kennedale on their field since May 19, 2018.
Jackson Duke looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Byron McClure was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Pempsell, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Godley will face off against Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Kennedale, they will square off against Ferris at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Yellowjackets will have lost four straight heading into Thursday's game.
