Basketball Game Preview: Avon Eagles vs. Elyria Pioneers

The Avon Eagles will head out to challenge the Elyria Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Avon turned things around against Avon Lake on Friday. They came out on top against the Shoremen by a score of 47-40.

Meanwhile, Elyria waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with an 83-74 win over the Titans.

Avon better keep an eye on Jayden Crutcher. He was instrumental in Elyria's win, going 9 of 13 on his way to 27 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Crutcher a new career-high in boards. Cam Bell was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.

Elyria is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Avon came up short against Elyria when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 58-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Elyria's Kendyll Compton, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards.
