Basketball Game Preview: Jacksboro Tigers vs. Holliday Eagles

Jacksboro is 0-10 against Holliday since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Jacksboro Tigers will head out to face off against the Holliday Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Jacksboro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to City View.

Despite their loss, Jacksboro saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Sams, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Cannon Valenzuela, who posted eight points and 16 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jacksboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Holliday took on Iowa Park on Tuesday. Holliday took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Iowa Park.

Jacksboro's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-5. As for Holliday, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

Jacksboro might still be hurting after the 80-54 defeat they got from Holliday in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jacksboro was down 42-19.
