Softball Game Preview: Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers vs. Harriton Rams

The Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Harriton Rams at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marple Newtown has four straight wins, Harriton has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Marple Newtown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Penncrest.

Jordyn Hannold was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Nicole Semerjian was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Marple Newtown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Harriton lost 11-4 to Strath Haven on Thursday.

Marple Newtown pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Harriton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Marple Newtown couldn't quite finish off Harriton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Marple Newtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
