After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Crockett brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Onalaska Wildcats on Tuesday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Crockett got a massive performance out of Akeelah Whitting, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, Whitting posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Diaz, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Crockett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Onalaska only posted a batting average of .273.
Crockett's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-6. As for Onalaska, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
Crockett will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
