Volleyball Recap: Pagosa Springs Takes a Loss

Pagosa Springs was the 3-2 winner over Montezuma-Cortez when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Saturday.

Pagosa Springs started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-16.

Lexi Campbell paced Pagosa Springs' offense, picking up 13 kills. Campbell got some help from Hayden Peterson and her 28 assists. Charity Domingo controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Pagosa Springs' loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

Pagosa Springs has already played their next contest (against Bayfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Mancos on the 16th.
