Basketball Recap: Lakewood Falls Despite Big Games from Takiyah Carr and Areona Mckoy + How To Watch

If Lakewood was riding high fresh off their 65-26 takedown of Lejeune on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leopards lost to the Clinton Dark Horses on the road by a 50-33 margin on Friday. The Leopards were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dark Horses apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Lakewood's loss came despite strong showings from Areona Mckoy and Takiyah Carr. Mckoy posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Carr had eight points. Mckoy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season.

Clinton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rubi Davila led the charge by putting up seven points and nine steals. The dominant performance also gave Davila a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Daniyah Coxum, who put up eight points and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lakewood fell to 2-1. As for Clinton, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
