Nicholas Khatchikian of California is the 19th player to score over 100 points or more in a game.

Sixteen players from the 2024-25 season who joined the 3,000-point club and one who went over 100 points in a game are featured in the latest update of the MaxPreps National High School Basketball Record Book.

Nicholas Khatchikian of Mesrobian (Pico Rivera, Calif.) scored 102 points in a January game, becoming the second player from California to hit the 100-point mark. Coincidentally, former Mesrobian player Tigran Grigorian held the previous state record with 100 points in 2003.

RECORD BOOK UPDATE: Single-game scoring

Khatchikian, who was the first to score 100 in a game in over 20 years, joins 18 others who have hit the century mark on the single-game scoring list. Danny Heater of Burnsville (W.Va.) holds the record with 135 points in 1960.

A total of 16 players joined the 3,000-point club and earned a spot on the career scoring list, including 15 seniors and one junior. Jack McCormick of Perrin-Whitt (Perrin, Texas) had the highest total among the newcomers with 3,765 points, the 46th-highest total in history. Tounde Yessoufou of St. Joseph (Santa Maria, Calif.) tallied 3,659 points, a California state record and the 56th-best total all-time.

RECORD BOOK UPDATE: Career scoring

The lone junior to join the list, Jason Crowe Jr. of Inglewood (Calif.), is on track to surpass Yessoufou next year. Crowe Jr. He has 3,331 points in just three seasons.

The only other player over 3,500 career points is Auden Slaughter of Santa Fe (Tenn.) with 3,587 points. He ranks 67th all-time and third in Tennessee history.

The list of 3,000-point scorers grew to 296 players this year, but not all additions were from the past school year. New research identified Don Liles of Maud (Texas) with 3,366 points from 1954 to 1958.

Not previously identified in the Texas high school records maintained by the late Bob Springer, Liles would have been the state's all-time leading scorer upon his graduation from Maud, surpassing Max Williams of Leuders-Avoca (Avoca, Texas), who graduated in 1956 with a state record 3,360 points.

Two players joined the list for single-season scoring average. Players needed to average at least 40 points per game in order to qualify. C.J. Williams of American Leadership Academy (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) joined the list at 43.2 points per game while Gabe Davenport of Zion Christian Academy (Columbia, Tenn.) made the list at 40.8 points per game.
