Baseball Recap: Foothill Takes a Loss

Monte Vista hit Foothill with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell 5-1 to the Mustangs. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Foothill saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Schmitt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Monte Vista, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Foothill will take on Dublin at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gaels have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Monte Vista, they will square off against California at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 2.6, the Grizzlies 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
