Volleyball Recap: Portage Indians vs. Morgan Township Cherokees
Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Morgan Township Cherokees, falling 3-0.
Portage was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Morgan Township work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-14, 25-22.
Kimari Beasley paced Portage's offense, picking up six kills. Beasley got some help from Walter Shumpert and his 13 assists. Ethan Collins controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Morgan Township found their leader in freshman Marshall Craigin, who had 15 digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Craigin.
Portage's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Morgan Township, they moved to 11-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Portage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Valparaiso on the 8th. As for Morgan Township, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Andrean on the 7th.
