Baseball Game Preview: Waterloo West Wahawks vs. Dubuque Senior Rams

Waterloo West is 1-6 against Dubuque Senior since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wahawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Rams at 3:00 p.m.

Waterloo West is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Hempstead.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dubuque Senior, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Davenport Central on Friday. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 23rd (when they won 14-4).

Dubuque Senior's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Waterloo West, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Waterloo West came up short against Dubuque Senior in their previous meeting back in June of 2023, falling 7-2. Can the Wahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
