Football Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Coronado Islanders

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will square off against the Coronado Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Hills' defense has only allowed 14.4 points per game this season, so Coronado's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Canyon Hills will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Kearny, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Rattlers came out on top against the Komets by a score of 22-14 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rattlers.

Meanwhile, Coronado blew past Clairemont, posting a 38-8 victory. The Islanders haven't had any issues with the Chieftains recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Coronado found their leader in sophomore Jack O'Sullivan, who rushed for 81 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 136 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Canyon Hills, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Canyon Hills might still be hurting after the 28-6 loss they got from Coronado in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Rattlers, Rodolfo Sanchez (who threw for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in two scores on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
