Baseball Game Preview: Ravenscroft Ravens vs. Greensboro Day School Bengals

The Ravenscroft Ravens will take on the Greensboro Day School Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Greensboro Day School is headed out to face a Ravens squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Ravenscroft fell 4-1 to Norfolk Academy on Saturday.

Ravenscroft saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amos Welborn, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Greensboro Day School made sure to put some runs up on the board against Asheville Christian Academy on Friday. Greensboro Day School was the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Asheville Christian Academy. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bengals' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Trevor Waters and Nick Salas made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Waters struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Salas pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Waters has allowed since back in March of 2024. At bat, Waters scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Salas went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Waters a new career-high in hits (four).

In other batting news, Luke Ray and Oliver Fisher did most of the damage at the plate: Ray scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Fisher went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Trenton Travis was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Ravenscroft skirted past Greensboro Day School 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Ravenscroft have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greensboro Day School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
