Softball Game Preview: Wood Memorial Trojans vs. Evansville Bosse Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Wood Memorial will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evansville Bosse took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wood Memorial, who comes in off a win.

Wood Memorial took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Springs Valley as they made off with a 24-8 win. The Trojans have beaten the Blackhawks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blackhawks has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Evansville Bosse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Evansville Central, falling 21-1.

Evansville Bosse saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Brescher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

The victory got Wood Memorial back to even at 1-1. As for Evansville Bosse, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Wood Memorial took their win against Evansville Bosse in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
