Baseball Game Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. North Creek Jaguars

Newport - Bellevue hasn't had much luck against North Creek recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. Newport - Bellevue has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newport - Bellevue fell victim to Lake Washington and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Kangaroos.

Meanwhile, North Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Woodinville on Friday and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly two runs.

North Creek got a good showing from Landon Taylor, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Taylor has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Curci, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for North Creek and nudges their season record down to 9-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Newport - Bellevue, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Newport - Bellevue suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to North Creek when the teams last played back in March. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
