Volleyball Game Preview: Westlake Thunder vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings

The Westlake Thunder will face off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westlake has three straight victories, Pleasant Grove has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Westlake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lehi, who was ranked second at the time (Westlake was ranked eighth). The Thunder narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pioneers 3-2.

Westlake was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove came up short against Lone Peak on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

Pleasant Grove started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23.

Westlake's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
