Soccer Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

If Lincoln was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Newton on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Railsplitters lost 4-0 to the Mattoon Greenwave on Saturday. Lincoln were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mattoon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lincoln moved to 4-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Mattoon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5-2.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Sacred Heart-Griffin at 5:00 p.m. As for Mattoon, they will head out on the road to face off against Urbana University at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
