After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Weslaco East was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of the Laredo LBJ Wolves by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak dating back to last season.

James Abrego spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Weslaco East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Tyler Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Weslaco East fell to 3-1. As for Laredo LBJ, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Weslaco East has already played their next contest, a 9-2 loss against Mission on the 27th. As for Laredo LBJ, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-2 victory against Edinburg North on the 28th.
