The Simla Cubs are taking a road trip to challenge the Calhan Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Simla will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Simla got the win against Otis by a conclusive 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Wyatt Stanko made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, T.J. Eurich and Treven Kocerha did most of the damage at the plate: Eurich went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Kocerha went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Kocerha has posted since April 2nd. Taylor Kissam also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calhan). They skirted past Ellicott 17-16. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Liam Metzger was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Toby Monger was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
Calhan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Simla pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Calhan, their victory ended a 15-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Simla has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Calhan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Simla took their win against Calhan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
