Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Willow Canyon's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Willow Canyon walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Verrado Vipers a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Vipers back in April, they had to take a 4-0 loss.

Not much got past Easton Spriggs, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Verrado off the board. Spriggs has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Willow Canyon's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Ray, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Willow Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10-1 record this season. As for Verrado, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-6.

As of now, neither Willow Canyon nor the Vipers have any future games scheduled.
