Softball Recap: Dewitt's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

DeWitt waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the McGehee Owls 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in March.

NECI HILL made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on GRACEY LLOYD, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. AC COX was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

DeWitt lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

DeWitt's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for McGehee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeWitt will challenge Rison at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McGehee, they will face off against Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
