Baseball Game Preview: Sweet Home Huskies vs. Phoenix Pirates

The Sweet Home Huskies will face off against the Phoenix Pirates at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

Sweet Home saw some tournament action on Thursday. They lost 18-12 to Glide.

Cohen Gutierrez and Damon Lawrence stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gutierrez scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Lawrence scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tregon Francis, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Sweet Home always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Phoenix had just enough and edged out North Valley 3-1 on Thursday.

The victory got Phoenix back to even at 1-1. As for Sweet Home, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Sweet Home might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Phoenix in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Sweet Home avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
