Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Evergreen Valley Cougars
The Leigh Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leigh knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Evergreen Valley likes a good challenge.
Last Monday, Leigh strolled past Wilcox with points to spare, taking the game 66-50.
Leigh's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cooper Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds, and Caleb Asante, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Asante is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marko Miocinovic, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley came up short against Christopher on Wednesday and fell 60-52. Evergreen Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leigh is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Evergreen Valley, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Leigh beat Evergreen Valley 72-64 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
