Softball Recap: Stivers School for the Arts Tigers vs. Belmont Bison
Stivers School for the Arts had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it nine. They came up short against the Belmont Bison, falling 20-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bison this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-1 loss on April 9th.
As for Belmont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.
For Belmont's part, Megan Leonard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Leonard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Jaiden Burrell was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Rozlyn Thompkins was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Stivers School for the Arts will take on Middletown Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Belmont, they will square off against Meadowdale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
