Baseball Recap: Weld Central Comes Up Short

Weld Central lost against Liberty Common back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rebels took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Rebels' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Weld Central saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Witzel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Witzel has become a key player for the Rebels: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Another was Lucas Johann, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Liberty Common, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-8.
