Basketball Recap: Hemingford Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Hemingford duked it out with Morrill on Tuesday. The Hemingford Bobcats snuck past the Morrill Lions with a 44-39 win. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Lions back in January, they had to take a 44-36 defeat.

Morrill's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyler Fisher, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. That was a full 41% of Morrill's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashwin Pittman, who scored eight points in addition to seven blocks and five rebounds.

Hemingford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points over those games. As for Morrill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-7.

Coming up, Hemingford will face off against Kimball at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morrill, they will look to defend their home court on February 21st against Bridgeport at 6:00 p.m.
