Softball Preview: Centaurus Warriors vs. Pomona Panthers

Centaurus has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Pomona Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Centaurus will be strutting in after a victory while Pomona will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Centaurus got the win against Jefferson Academy by a conclusive 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Nora Midness was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pomona came up short against D'Evelyn on Wednesday and fell 4-1. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Pomona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzie DeVries, who went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Centaurus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Pomona, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
