Baseball Game Preview: Owen J. Roberts Wildcats vs. Phoenixville Phantoms

The Owen J. Roberts Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Phoenixville Phantoms at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Owen J. Roberts didn't have quite enough to beat Spring-Ford and fell 2-1. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Phoenixville hadn't done well against Methacton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Phantoms sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Phantoms have posted since May 8, 2024.

Giovanni Vito was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Bobby Gray also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Phoenixville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win snapped Phoenixville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for Owen J. Roberts, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

Everything went Owen J. Roberts' way against Phoenixville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Owen J. Roberts made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
