Softball Recap: Springfield Renaissance Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Commerce, Springfield Renaissance was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Hampden Charter School of Science as they made off with a 26-6 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Springfield Renaissance as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kaylee Buzzell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Springfield Renaissance got a massive performance out of Samantha Amadis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those four hits gave Amadis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Pe?a, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs.

Springfield Renaissance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Springfield Renaissance picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Hampden Charter School of Science, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Springfield Renaissance will welcome Putnam Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hampden Charter School of Science, they will venture away from home to square off against Mahar Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
