Basketball Game Preview: Fullerton Warriors vs. Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers

The Fullerton Warriors will square off against the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Fullerton humbled Heartland Lutheran with a 66-38 victory. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Newman Grove/St. Edward duked it out with Cedar Bluffs on Friday. Newman Grove/St. Edward came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Bluffs, sneaking past 45-43. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Panthers were down 27-13 in the second quarter.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's win came from a few key players Fullerton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zander Jarecki, who went 5 for 8 to rack up 14 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Those 14 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Reader, who posted 11 points along with six assists and five steals.

Newman Grove/St. Edward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Bluffs only pulled down eight offensive boards.

Fullerton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points over those games. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
