Softball Recap: Guilderland Comes Up Short

Guilderland extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Colonie Central Wolfpack. That's two games in a row now that the Flying Dutchmen have lost by just one run.

Tess Kachadurian was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Colonie Central, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

On Colonie Central's side, Adrianna Laraway was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Laraway was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Katie Parisi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Morgan Ellerbrock, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Guilderland will head out on the road to take on Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colonie Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chatham at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
