Recap: Moffat County Bulldogs vs. Hayden Tigers
The Moffat County Bulldogs posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 51-26 margin over Hayden. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-11.
Moffat County was led to victory by Caitlyn Adams and Brooke Wheeler. Adams scored nine points along with four steals, while Wheeler scored eight points along with six steals. Adams hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Mena Tucker, who scored nine points.
Hayden's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Kleckler, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Taryn Schlim who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 57.7% of Hayden's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win makes it two in a row for Moffat County and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for Hayden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moffat County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Summit at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday. As for Hayden, they will head out on the road to face off against Plateau Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Plateau Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hayden in Colorado (Plateau Valley is ranked 137th, while Hayden is ranked 296th).
