Baseball Preview: El Monte Lions vs. Marshall Eagles
El Monte hasn't had much luck against Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will take on the Eagles at 3:15 p.m.
El Monte is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 30th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 8-2.
El Monte saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cesar Castro, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Castro scored this season.
Meanwhile, Marshall beat Arroyo 9-6 on Wednesday.
Marshall also got a great performance from Michael Gerst as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
