Playoff Week 1 Large-School Player of the Week

Trent Turner, Miami – Turner was the driving force behind one of the bigger surprises of the first round, a 35-28 overtime victory over Class 5A perennial power Tulsa East Central. Turner completed 13-of-24 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns and added three rushing touchdowns for the Wardogs.

Turner sent the game into overtime with a 40-yard touchdown pass to James Pickens after the Cardinals took the lead with a touchdown run and two-point conversion. Turner would win it with a 3-yard touchdown run in overtime.

After a 1-4 start to the season including losses to Tulsa Washington, Bixby, and Class 4A contenders Grove and Wagoner, the Wardogs have ripped off six straight victories. Turner has 1,750 passing yards and 18 touchdowns this season for Miami.
