Preview: Overton Eagles vs. Shelton Bulldogs

Overton is 8-2 against Shelton since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Overton Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Shelton Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Overton will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Overton stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Ansley/Litchfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-20 win at home. Given Overton's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Ansley/Litchfield is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jolee Ryan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wood, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.

Even though Shelton has not done well against Wood River recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Shelton strolled past Wood River with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. The win was nothing new for Shelton as they're now sitting on four straight.

Overton's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.87 points. As for Shelton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Overton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Shelton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 40-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Overton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
