Softball Recap: Roxboro Community Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Roxboro Community had won seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 16-5 to make it eight. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Vance Charter Knights. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kaylyn Pope spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Karrie Obie was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Mann, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Vance Charter, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-4 record. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Vance Charter's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Rice, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Rice has hit this season.

Roxboro Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vance Charter, they have already played their next matchup, a 7-2 victory against Oxford Prep on the 1st.
