Bishop Montgomery has gone 8-2 against St. Monica recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will take on the Mariners at 3:00 p.m. Bishop Montgomery's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so St. Monica's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Bishop Montgomery needed a bit of extra time to put away Cathedral. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Phantoms 3-2.
Pierson Howe spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Bishop Montgomery's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Gomez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Bishop Montgomery is undefeated when Gomez posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Matthew Orozco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Monica, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Lennox Academy on Monday as they made off with a 9-2 win.
Gabriel Campbell was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Finley Crosby, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
St. Monica kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.
St. Monica's record is now 5-10. As for Bishop Montgomery, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Bishop Montgomery came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Monica in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
