Softball Recap: Aurora Houn Dawgs vs. Cassville Wildcats
Aurora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cassville Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Houn Dawgs of the 11-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Aubrey Simpson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with a triple and a stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
Aurora's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Cassville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aurora will challenge Marshfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cassville, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against McDonald County at 4:30 p.m.
